Aluminum Luggage FAQ
Material, tooling and ordering questions we are asked before an aluminum program starts.
Which aluminum do you use?
5-series aluminum magnesium alloy panels, pressed in dedicated dies and assembled onto a riveted aluminum frame.
What is the difference between your aluminum and aluminum magnesium lines?
Both use 5000 series aluminum magnesium alloy. The forming process is not fixed by line: it is selected for each project, so a shell may be pressed and assembled onto a riveted frame, or drawn as a single piece. The specification table on each model states the process used for that model.
What is the smallest order you accept?
Logo customization starts at 50 pieces. Full programs on an existing model start at 300 pieces per model. A new shell that needs its own tooling starts at 1,000 pieces.
What is the minimum order quantity?
300 pieces per model on an existing platform.
How long does sampling take?
7 to 15 days on existing tooling.
How long is production?
30 to 45 days after the specification is approved.
Do we have to pay for tooling?
Not when you start from a model listed on this page. Those shells are already tooled, so logo, colour, finish, hardware and interior can all be changed without new tooling. New tooling is only needed for a shell size or profile we do not already run, and starts at 1,000 pieces.
Can we sell it under our own brand?
Yes. Logo, lining, colour and packaging are built to your specification.
Which surface finishes are available?
Brushed, bead blasted, anodized, electrophoretic coated, spray coated, PVD and etched. Logo work is done by laser engraving, UV printing or silk screen printing.
Which sizes are available?
20, 24 and 28 inch depending on the model. Each model lists the sizes that are tooled.
Can we change the interior?
Yes. Lining fabric, colour, compression straps and divider layout are all built to your specification.
Which trade terms do you support?
EXW, FOB, CIF and DDP.
