When you order metal luggage for your brand, the minimum order quantity affects more than the total number of cases. It also determines how you can build a range of colors and sizes within that first order.

Custom colors, interiors and related configurations on one of our existing models start at 300 pieces per model. Different colors and sizes of that same model can count toward the total, with no separate minimum for each color or size. You do not need to order 300 pieces of every combination.

Using our aluminum luggage ordering conditions and the TS-006 model, this guide explains how to allocate the first 300 pieces, compare quotations and confirm the sample details.

How do minimums differ for logos, configuration changes and new shells?

Once you select an existing model, we can discuss colors, finishes, logos, interiors and related components. A new shell size or profile needs a separate design and tooling review. The table below distinguishes the custom luggage ordering conditions by the changes involved.

Customization scope Starting quantity Work to address
Add a logo to an existing model 50 pieces Use the existing case and configuration; confirm artwork, application method, position and size.
Customize an existing model 300 pieces per model Define the required colors, finish, interior and related components, then review the changes in the sample.
New shell requiring dedicated tooling 1,000 pieces Review the new dimensions or profile, approve drawings and tooling scope, and make a sample before bulk production.

If the existing color, interior and hardware already meet your requirements, adding a logo at the selected position can be discussed as logo customization. If you also want a different surface finish and an interior that holds a specified set of items, we need to discuss the finish reference, item dimensions and dividers. The sample must address those changes as well. The work extends beyond applying a brand mark.

Mixing sizes within one model applies to its available size options. A size that the model does not currently offer requires a review of the associated design and tooling work. This guide uses aluminum luggage projects as examples; confirm conditions for titanium and other product lines separately.

How can you split 300 pieces across colors and sizes?

Our TS-006 aluminum suitcase is listed in 20-, 24- and 28-inch sizes. Suppose you choose this model for a first order and want two colors. Your quantity plan could look like this:

TS-006 size Color A Color B Size total
20 inch 80 pieces 40 pieces 120 pieces
24 inch 60 pieces 40 pieces 100 pieces
28 inch 40 pieces 40 pieces 80 pieces
Total 180 pieces 120 pieces 300 pieces

This is an illustrative allocation, not a customer order or a sales forecast. Colors A and B stand for your selected colors, with the finishes confirmed for the project. Available sizes come from the TS-006 product information.

The table contains six color-and-size combinations, all within one model. Together they meet the 300-piece minimum for customization on an existing model. You can change the proportions to match your plan, such as allocating more units to a size already requested by your sales channels. You do not have to divide the order evenly to meet separate color or size minimums.

List each color-and-size combination and its quantity separately in the order. If you plan to buy two models, such as 150 pieces of each, list them separately so we can confirm their ordering conditions. Do not count them as one 300-piece same-model order.

What if you need fewer than 300 pieces with a custom color and interior?

Suppose you want 100 cases in a specified color, with your logo and a revised interior. We can first review the selected model’s existing colors and interior with you to see which details you can keep.

If the existing color and configuration suit the intended use and you only need to add a logo, we can discuss the route starting at 50 pieces. The next details are the artwork, application method, position and size of the logo.

If the specified color and custom interior are essential, the minimum remains 300 pieces per model. Those pieces can be allocated across different colors and available sizes. List the quantities you need for each combination, then decide whether your first-order plan can support that total.

How should brands, wholesalers and corporate buyers allocate quantities?

Brand launch: choose the sizes and colors for the first release

If the first release will offer only the 20-inch version, you can allocate the order to that size within the model, then divide it by color. If you also want larger cases, allocate quantities using preorders, channel requirements or your own first-order plan. You do not need an equal quantity of every size and color to reach 300 pieces.

List the interiors, logo details and hardware you want to share across the range. Mark any combination that needs a different configuration so we can discuss the quotation and samples against those requirements.

Wholesale orders: plan quantities for individual cases or matching-color sets

For individual sales, the three sizes can have different quantities. For three-piece sets, match the quantities of 20-, 24- and 28-inch cases within each color. One hundred pieces of each size is 300 pieces, or 100 sets. Write “100 sets, each containing one case of each of the three sizes; 300 pieces total” in the inquiry.

The example table can form 40 matching-color sets in each color: 80 sets using 240 pieces. It leaves 40 individual 20-inch cases and 20 individual 24-inch cases. If you sell only complete sets, revise the allocation. If you also sell cases individually, those remaining quantities may fit the plan. Specify set packaging separately; matching quantities do not establish that the cases can be nested for shipping.

Corporate gifts: plan the quantity and what each case needs to hold

If an existing configuration suits the recipients and branding is the main requirement, start by reviewing the model and logo application. If the interior must hold particular gifts or equipment, first check whether the existing layout accommodates them and whether dividers need customization. Recipient numbers alone do not determine the appropriate ordering route.

When customizing an existing model, allocate colors and sizes within the same model to the different recipient requirements. Include the quantities for each group, what the case needs to hold and the event arrival date so quantity, configuration and timing can be considered together.

Which specifications and costs should you compare in a 300-piece quote?

Combining quantities within one model does not mean every color, size or configuration has the same unit price. Send the quantity table together with the specifications so the quotation corresponds to the products you intend to buy.

Two plans might both contain 300 pieces, but one could mainly use 20-inch cases with the existing interior while the other adds larger sizes and specified dividers. A single average price hides those differences. List the quantity, unit price and included specifications for each combination before comparing the full order value.

Include the destination and required arrival date in your inquiry, and distinguish product prices from shipping charges. Sample work, design revisions and any tooling should also be separated from the bulk product price. State whether packaging and shipping are included and which delivery terms apply. When you change a size allocation or a component, you can then identify the corresponding cost change. Our metal luggage manufacturing cost guide explains the factors behind these quotation changes.

How do we confirm samples and production specifications for each size?

Once the quantity table is ready, the next step is to define what each combination should look like and include. Send the model, quantities by color and size, parts you want to change, and any logo artwork, color references, interior requirements and arrival plan. You do not need every technical detail ready before starting the discussion.

Agree on the changes this sample round will demonstrate

Sampling an existing model takes 20 days. Before sampling, we discuss which sizes, colors, interiors and components you need to review, with sample and related development costs identified separately from the bulk product quotation.

For example, if the 20-inch and 28-inch cases have different interior compartments, approving the 20-inch sample still leaves the 28-inch divider layout to confirm. List its dimensions and intended use, then discuss with us what further dimensional information or physical sample is needed. Where other colors or components differ, specify the reference to use for each approval as well.

Update the order to include sample revisions

Our aluminum luggage production process uses approved drawings, samples and component specifications as production references. Suppose the review changes the 28-inch divider layout. The order should identify which colors and quantities use the revised layout, and we need to check with you whether the quotation or schedule changes.

Before arranging production, review the model, size, color, configuration, quantity and packing requirements for each combination against the latest approvals.
