Ribs, Rivets and Two Locks
Three things on this shell that are not on the plain one.
What the ribs are for
The ribs stiffen the panel across its width, so a thinner sheet still holds its shape under load. They do a second job that has nothing to do with structure: a ribbed face breaks up reflections and hides the small handling marks that show plainly on a flat panel.
Four rivets at every load point
The corners carry thicker metal and four rivets at each load point rather than a single fixing. Spreading the fastening means a knock is taken across several points instead of concentrating at one, which is where a corner usually starts to fail.
Two locks and a coated face
The shell closes on a double TSA lock rather than one. The anodised face carries a scratch- and fingerprint-resistant coat on top, which is specified as standard on this model rather than as an option.
What we can change
This shell already has tooling, so a branded run starts without a mould charge. Everything below is specified per order.
Logo and artwork
Laser engraving, UV printing, silk screen or embossing. The method is chosen to suit the surface finish, and there is no tooling charge to brand an existing shell.
Surface finish
Brushing, sandblasting, anodizing, electrophoresis, spray coating, PVD and etching. A scratch- and fingerprint-resistant coat can be added on top.
Colour
Matched to your specification rather than limited to the stock list. Stock colours for this model are shown in the table above.
Lining and interior
EVA, nylon or PU lining, with compression straps, divider, zip pocket or a fitted insert built to your drawing.
Hardware
Lock, wheels, corner guards and trolley handle can all be changed. Casters are available detachable on request.
Packaging and size
Gift box, printed carton and carton marking to your artwork. Sizes outside the standard range are quoted against new tooling.

Riveted Corners
Ribs stiffen the face so a thinner sheet can carry the same load, and the corners are riveted rather than only bonded. Rivet spacing is set on a jig so the pitch is the same case to case, which matters once the same model is being produced across several months.

Do the ribs make the case stronger?
They stiffen the panel, which is not quite the same thing. A ribbed sheet resists bending across its width better than a flat sheet of the same thickness. Impact resistance at the corners comes from the thicker metal and the riveting, not from the ribs.
Why two locks instead of one?
The shell closes on a double TSA lock so the closure is held at two points along the opening line rather than one. It also lets the case be opened at either lock rather than only at the centre.
What does the anti-fingerprint coat actually do?
It sits on top of the anodised layer and reduces how readily oil from handling shows on the face. It also raises scratch resistance. It does not make the surface impossible to mark, and on a metal case some marking with use is normal.
What does it hold and weigh?
35 litres and 4.0 kg in the standard wholesale build, at 485 by 385 by 200 mm. Changing the lining or hardware moves the weight.
Can the rib pattern be changed?
Not on this tooling. The rib layout is formed into the shell, so a different pattern is a new shell and starts at 1,000 pieces. Colour, finish, lining, hardware and branding all change freely on the existing tooling.
